Carisiprodol USES
Carisiprodol, a muscle relaxant, is used with rest,
physical therapy, and other measures to relax muscles
and relieve pain and discomfort caused by strains,
sprains, and other muscle injuries. Carisiprodol
is sometimes prescribed for other uses; ask your
doctor or pharmacist for more information.
Carisiprodol DIRECTIONS
Carisiprodol comes as a tablet to take by mouth.
It usually is taken three times daily and at bedtime.
It may be taken with food or immediately after meals
to prevent stomach upset.. Follow the directions
on your prescription label carefully, and ask your
doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not
understand. Take Carisiprodol exactly as directed.
Do not take more or less of it or take it more often
than prescribed by your doctor.
Carisiprodol SIDE EFFECTS
Although side effects from Carisiprodol are not common,
they can occur. Tell your doctor if any of these
symptoms are severe or do not go away: drowsiness
dizziness clumsiness headache fast heart rate upset
stomach vomiting skin rash If you experience any
of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately:
difficulty breathing fever weakness burning in the
eyes
Carisiprodol PRECAUTIONS
Tell your doctor your medical history, especially
of: any liver or kidney disease, blood disorders,
porphyria, asthma, any allergies. When rising quickly
from a sitting or lying position, dizziness or lightheadedness
may occur. Change positions slowly. Use caution engaging
in activities requiring alertness (such as driving)
if this drug makes you dizzy or drowsy. Limit alcohol
intake while taking this medication. This drug should
be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy.
Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
Carisiprodol is excreted into breast milk. Consult
your doctor before breast-feeding.
Carisiprodol DRUG INTERACTIONS
Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription
meds you may use, especially of: carbamazepine, narcotic
pain relievers (e.g., codeine), drugs used to aid
sleep, antidepressants (e.g., SSRI-types such as
fluoxetine or fluvoxamine), MAO inhibitors (e.g.,
furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, procarbazine,
selegiline, tranylcypromine), psychiatric medicine
(e.g., nefazodone), "triptan"-type drugs, anti-anxiety
drugs (e.g., diazepam), sibutramine. Also, report
use of certain antihistamines (e.g., diphenhydramine)
which are also present in many cough-and-cold products.
Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor
or pharmacist approval.
Carisiprodol OVERDOSE
In case of overdose, call your local poison control
center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed
or is not breathing, call local emergency services
at 911.
Carisiprodol NOTES
Do not share Carisiprodol with others. Medical examinations
including the nose are generally performed during
prolonged use of this product to check for side effects.
Inform all your doctors you use (or have used) Carisiprodol.
MISSED DOSE
If you miss a dose, use Carisiprodol as soon as you
remember. If it is near the time of the next dose,
skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing
schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
Carisiprodol STORAGE
Store Carisiprodol at room temperature between 36
and 77 degrees F (2 -25 degrees C) away from light
and moisture.
